Turning Red (2022) Review

Set in Toronto in 2002, the film follows Meilin "Mei" Lee, a 13-year-old Chinese-Canadian girl who rapidly transforms into a giant red panda whenever her emotions get to her.

Turning Red is a perfect Disney/Pixar film. Not only has this a well-told coming-of-age story, but it also puts on a lot of creativity with Mel's red transformation as it's a direction of Chinese tradition. The characters are nicely developed, especially Mei and her family. The message of growing up and trying new things that makes you happy is very touching.

Newly Director Domee Shi has made a beautifully mystical film with a pleasing message that's totally relatable and emotional for all families & teens.

Overall: It is a fresh movie from Disney/Pixar animation, and I like it. The Chinese praying culture, it makes it different from the others. It's cute, funny, and not boring at all for me. It delivered a message about the relationship between the mother and the daughter and all the families.

We are getting a lot of anticipated movies this year, and this is one of them I recommend watching, especially for those that grew up in the early 2000s.
