8. Batman: Gotham by Gaslight

More of a noir detective narrative than an action/adventure novel, Gotham by Gaslight is set in the city of Gotham. In 1890, Batman (voiced by Bruce Greenwood) continued his role as a masked vigilante, but his methods became more brutal. The villain is revealed to be a resurrected version of Jack the Ripper, and Batman reveals that Sherlock Holmes was his tutor. The reader is led to believe that a serial killer operates freely at the World's Fair. In many people's opinions, the actor that portrays Batman, Bruce Greenwood, is the "voice of Batman's" second-best performer, after only Kevin Conroy.

The DC Animation Library houses some excellent titles, including "Gotham by Gaslight," which stands out among the rest. The filmmakers can investigate Batman's character from various angles thanks to the film. The tale is allowed to go into mature topics that would otherwise be taboo in a superhero game because the game has been given an R rating.
