She is the headstrong daughter of King Fergus of Scotland (Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor of Scotland (Emma Thompson). Her father is King Fergus, and her mother is Queen Elinor. Her disregard for an age-old custom infuriates the Lords of the Highlands, which ultimately results in anarchy throughout the realm. Merida seeks the assistance of a peculiar witch, played by Julie Walters, who finally gives her an unlucky request.
